The role of asylum seekers in the Dutch labour market

The Dutch labour market never stands still. Companies need reliable, flexible staff, while thousands of asylum seekers are looking for opportunities to contribute to society. Uitzendbureau Flexibel sees a unique opportunity here: combining social responsibility with practical solutions for the labour market.

Building a bridge between people and work

Through our director Serdal Yilmaz, who has long been active in social projects, the municipality of The Hague introduced us to asylum seekers eager to work. At our office, we spoke with candidates, listened to their stories and explained our employment conditions. But we went further: we provide training and language courses to make integration faster and more sustainable.

First successes in practice

The start was exciting: we submitted 15 TWV (work permit) applications at the UWV. Despite bureaucratic hurdles, we persevered. And with success: all 15 asylum seekers started working and quickly found their place in the workplace. Their motivation spoke volumes. Soon, they began telling others in their reception centres about their positive experiences with Uitzendbureau Flexibel. Word-of-mouth referrals brought more and more candidates to us.

Today, 28 asylum seekers are employed via Uitzendbureau Flexibel, with 9 more TWV applications pending. A result we are proud of, proof of the impact when you dare to offer opportunities.

More than numbers

This is about more than placing people in jobs. It is an investment in people, trust and the future. By giving asylum seekers a place in the labour market, we contribute to integration and relieve the pressure on companies in need of staff. We show that entrepreneurship and social responsibility go hand in hand.

Growing by doing good

Our mission is clear: growing by doing good. Uitzendbureau Flexibel continues to guide asylum seekers, inspire employers and prove that social value and business success can strengthen each other.
